Emergency Lighting systems are important life safety systems that should be installed in all public buildings and are a requirement under the Building Control Act of 1990. These systems should be designed, installed, commissioned and inspected in accordance with the requirements of I.S. 3217 - Emergency Lighting. This voluntary register is intended to assist the Fire Authorities, Building owners and any interested parties in identifying suitably qualified practitioners in Emergency Lighting that can demonstrate their competence, who have met the criteria to join the scheme and whose work could be subject to inspection. Click here for a copy of the rules of the scheme (.pdf) The day to day operation of the scheme is run by two bodies, RECI and ECSSA. The register is made of two lists one from each body.
