Seminars on The National Wiring Rules for Electrical Installations in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres,
Third Edition ET105:2011

Seminar Description

With effect from 3rd January 2012 all electrical installations within potentially explosive atmospheres must be installed, maintained and tested in accordance with ET105:2011, the Third Edition of the National Rules for Electrical Installations in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres. This latest edition of the National Rules was developed and produced by the Electro-Technical Council of Ireland. With the mandatory date for the Third Edition now imminent the ETCI is holding seminars on "the Rules". These two seminars are to familiarise the Irish electrical industry with the Third Edition National Rules.

Seminar Objective

The objective of this seminar is to introduce and to give an overview of the Third Edition of the National Rules for Electrical Installations in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres, ET105. Topics of the seminar will cover:

  • background on the development of ET105;
  • new layout of ET105:2011;
  • changes from previous edition;
  • new and expanded annexes with detailed overviews;
  • new requirements for inspection, testing and certification.

Seminar Presenters

All of the seminar presenters are drawn from ETCI Technical Committee 6 (TC6 - equipment for potentially explosive atmospheres) and all of the presenters have worked in this field for many years and have participated in the development of international standards on electrical installations in potentially explosive atmospheres and in the compilation of the Third Edition. The seminars will be chaired by the following:

Dublin: Mr Noel O Riordan, Chairman of ETCI Technical Committee 6 (TC6 - equipment for potentially explosive atmospheres).
Cork: Mr Eric Bergin, Chairman of the ETCI TC6 working group that compiled ET105:2011.
